Day 6. Paddle a bamboo basket boat  – Hoi An ancient town (B)

The basket boat will carry you along for 30 minutes and, from there, you will be able to watch and take part in scenes of crab fishing. You may try to manoeuvre your boat yourself, but it is not an easy task with circular paddle movements while trying to make sure you keep your balance! However, it's certainly a lot of fun.

In the afternoon, you will take a stroll through small streets of the town to explore two-century-old Chinese houses. Sites include the Japanese Bridge, the Chinese Temple, and Tan Ky trading house. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.

Historic landmarks include the Old Saigon post office, Notre Dame Cathedral and Opera House. Meals are on your own. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10. Ho Chi Minh – Cu Chi tunnel (B)

This morning we will leave the city by private vehicle to visit the amazing tunnel network of Cu Chi. This incredible system, covering almost 250km in length was shelter to over 16,000 Vietcong guerrillas during the wars. Initially started in 1948 to provide shelter against the French air and ground sweeps, the network went on to serve as communication routes, storage facilities, hospitals and living quarters for Vietnamese fighters throughout the American war.  If you are interested (and game) you can even descend into the tunnels to learn more about the harsh conditions faced by Vietcong guerrillas who lived there. Return to the city centre and the remainder of the day is free at leisure. Meals on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
