Founded in 1817, the gardens feature streams, lotus ponds, a magnificent collection of palms, and over 3,000 varieties of orchids, as well being a refuge for more than 50 different species of birds. From Bogor, proceed by road to the town of Bandung (approximately 3 hours) and check in to your hotel. Overnight. (B)
DAY 4 BANDUNG
After breakfast at the hotel, drive through the scenic Lembang hills to the crater of Mount Tangkuban Perahu. Then visit the hot springs of ‘Sari Ater’, located 1,600 metres above sea level. In the afternoon, visit Padasuka village, where you will hear a performance of ‘Angklung’ - using traditional bamboo musical instruments.

DAY 5 BANDUNG - YOGYAKARTA
After an early breakfast at the hotel, drive to the train station of Bandung, where at 0730 hrs you will board the train (in executive class) to Yogyakarta, passing through the scenic countryside of the Preanger district. In early afternoon you will reach the train station in Yogyakarta, from where you will be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight. (B)
DAY 6 YOGYAKARTA
After breakfast, visit the ‘Kraton’, the former palace of the sultan of Yogyakarta. This grand and elegant complex was meticulously planned to reflect the Javanese cosmos, and is a splendid example of traditional Javanese architecture. Designed and built in stages, the Kraton was completed in 1790.
In the afternoon, visit the magnificent 9th century Hindu temple of Prambanan. This temple is an extraordinarily beautiful building constructed during the reigns of two kings, namely Rakai Pikatan and Rakai Balitung. Soaring up to 47 metres, the foundation of this temple has fulfilled the desire of the founder to show Hindu triumph in Java island.
Return to your hotel in Yogyakarta for overnight. (B)
Optional evening excursion: sunset at Ratu Boko Temple and dinner at Prambanan Temple with Ramayana dance performance.
DAY 7 YOGYAKARTA - MAGELANG
After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a morning visit to the Borobudur temple, whose massive stone stupa is one the greatest of all ancient architectural monuments. Built with forced labour from the surrounding countryside between about AD 750 and 850, Borobudur predates Angkor Wat in Cambodia by three centuries. Its ensembles of stone relief panels are the virtual history of Mahayana Buddhist doctrine as well as providing scholars with detailed information about life in 8th and 9th century Java. Having fallen into oblivion shortly after its completion and buried under volcanic ash and tropical growth, it was only rediscovered in 1815, and has recently been fully restored by an international effort under the aegis of UNESCO. In the surrounding villages you can still watch artisans whose craft is similar to that of their ancestors. The nearby, smaller temple of Pawon Mendut can also be visited.
Afterwards, drive about an hour north to Losari Village, Magelang, and the resort of MesaStila (formerly known as Losari Coffee Plantation), a colonial splendour. The coffee plantation founded last century in mountainous terrain now offers a stunning retreat with deluxe villas featuring spectacular views of the central Java highlands including 8 volcanoes. Relax over high tea on the sprawling verandas of the 19th century Dutch mansion house, re-energise with yoga and tai chi by the spring-fed pool and indulge in treatments at the authentic Turkish Hamam spa. Overnight. (B)
DAY 8 MAGELANG – Semarang – KARIMUNJAWA ISLANDS

The Karimunjawa Archipelago is a National Marine Park composed of 27 islands which still offers the feeling of a natural and remote beauty. On arrival at Karimunjawa Airport, transfer by speedboat (approximately 1 hour) to Menjawakan island and Kura Kura Resort. Located in the midst of the Karimunjawa Archipelago and offering one of the largest lagoons of the area, Menjawakan is a very green, private tropical island of 22 hectares, which is exclusively occupied by Kura Kura Resort.
